Crafty Moo

So about a year ago i moved house heavily pregnant to live in the town Mr.C worked in, this was hard for me as i knew no one here at all apart from my in laws, we was also downsizing from a house to a flat so my work desk and huge craft cupboard would have to be downsized :(
But most of all i was leaving behind my crafty friends, we used to get together and craft on a semi regular basis, i would also be too far away from my lace class so i would have to put that back on the back burner.
well once baby honey-may came along in July i set about finding a craft group in Saffron Walden. Yet no matter how hard i tried there was nothing so in July i decided to start my own group. i found premises that was willing to have a load of paper trimmings on their floor and never to be able to get rid of a fine coating of glitter! lol.

and the Crafty Moo craft group of Saffron Walden was born. our first meeting was march 7th 2011 and we had the lovely Caroline skinner in attendance.
Caroline brought some gorgeous make and takes all made with Stampin Up! products and a good night was had by all.
here is what we made; an Easter treat bag and a Easter card.

i think that a good night was had by all Caroline is a fantastic teacher and we all took away extremely professional looking projects even my mother in law Judy who had never done any form of crafting before!

Our next meeting is Monday April 11th 2011 and all are welcome just drop me a line at craftylittlemoo@hotmail.co.uk for more details.

if you would like to contact caroline skinner independant Stampin Up! demonstrator please pop over to her blog at http://www.stampinupandbranchingout.blogspot.com/

until next time ttfn

Previous projects - My love of all things Penny Black Critters

i love love LOVE hedgehogs so when i first saw these little guys from Penny Black (too many years ago now to mention) i just had to have the whole lot!
i'm sure many a crafter can relate to the need to get EVERYTHING you love, lol well i have now over 150 critters on wood and clear mounts and i still love them loads, they are nearly always the stamps i fall back to if my mojo has deserted me.

here are a few pictures of projects i have made using them that i took photos of;

i really love water colouring these images i use a mixture of 'real' water colours from a very mucky palete i've had since i took GCSE and A level Art and water soluable pencils and a few whispers/marvey markers to get the tones right.  i often stamp loads of images all at once and sit and watch car crash tv while i paint. i then store them in index cards for when i need a card in a hurry.

i am sure i will find more pictures hanging around on my pc, but until then ttfn,

Some of my previous projects -lace

i have long made lace by hand using traditional methods and lace bobbins, the threads used are silks i like to work in colours on some items but traditionally white is used and my Nan who got me started with lace in the first place only uses white silks.

here is a picture of a coaster whilst in progress it was then mounted in plastic and lives at my mother in laws now. unfortunately i made this well over a year ago and i can not remember all the stitches that i used but i can remember that it is predominately cloth stitch which is one of the most basic stitches used and tends to be a base in most lace patterns. lace is worked on a pillow, using brass pins to secure the design as you work, my pillow is stuffed with straw but i have others that are polystyrene.

this is my little hedgehog pin cushion he is my favourite little gadget that i have in regards to my lace as he is so cute!

and here is a card a made for my nan using an engraved lace bobbin, had lots more commissions for these after :) !

for more information on lace making you can contact the Essex Lace Makers or the Lace Guild.

see you next time
